Student assessment is an important part of measuring academic progress, informing instruction, and ensuring students are prepared for future success. Our school uses a combination of classroom assessments, state assessments, and nationally recognized measures to monitor student learning and support continuous improvement.
Georgia Milestones is the state’s comprehensive assessment program that measures student mastery of the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Students participate in End of Grade (EOG) and End of Course (EOC) assessments as required by the Georgia Department of Education.
Eligible students receive testing accommodations in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504 Plan, English Learner (EL) plan, or other approved educational plan, following Georgia Department of Education guidelines.
Under Georgia’s Early Literacy Act, students in grades K–3 are screened three times a year using Early Beacon to identify those who may be at risk in foundational reading skills. When a student screens as at risk, the school notifies the family, provides targeted reading support with regular progress monitoring, and — where appropriate — screens for characteristics of dyslexia. Families are partners throughout and receive updates on their child’s progress.
DRC BEACON is a through-year, formative interim assessment administered in English language arts and mathematics in grades 3–8. It measures progress throughout the school year, allowing educators to target instruction and make informed decisions.
